Sony's new HVR-Z7 has a nice surprise up its sleeve!

The newly announced Sony HVR-Z7 looked like a really great camera to begin with. It is designed to compete with the likes of the XLH1, and as such it has interchangeable lenses, which is something users of this level of camera from Sony have been crying out for. But the HVR-Z7 has one other feature that really took me by surprise. It can record HDV to tape AND to Compact Flash cards simultaneously! Yes, you read that right, this Sony camcorder records to Compact Flash. If this is the route Sony are taking now, we can be sure of one hell of a great year for new camera equipment in the coming years.

Compact Flash is relatively inexpensive, and can be purchased from any branch of high street electronics or camera shop. As long as Sony do not give it a proprietry spin like the SxS cards this could be very, very good news for everyone.
